General Dentistry

Cavities are a common dental issue, but they do not have to affect the function or beauty of your smile. At Park Place Dental, we offer tooth-colored fillings that restore the natural look and feel of your teeth while providing durable, long-lasting protection.

What are tooth-colored fillings?

Tooth-colored fillings, also known as composite resin fillings, are designed to match the color of your natural teeth. These fillings are ideal for cavities in visible areas, providing a seamless finish that is both functional and aesthetic.

Benefits of tooth-colored fillings

  • Natural appearance

Fillings blend in with your natural tooth color, ensuring a smooth, flawless look.

  • Durable and long-lasting

These fillings are strong, providing effective protection against further decay.

  • Less invasive

The process requires minimal removal of the natural tooth structure, preserving the integrity of your teeth.

How we place fillings

  • Diagnosis

Our dentist will evaluate the extent of the cavity and recommend the best course of treatment.

  • Preparation

We clean the affected area and prepare it for the filling.

  • Filling application

The tooth-colored material is applied and shaped to match the natural contours of your tooth.

  • Finishing touches

After the material hardens, we polish the filling to ensure it blends seamlessly with your smile.

Fillings Questions

  • Modern composite fillings are strong enough for the great majority of everyday cavities, including on back teeth, and they bond to the tooth rather than simply sitting in it. Very large cavities in heavy chewing areas sometimes call for a crown instead, which we would discuss with you before starting.

  • Sometimes. We use the Solea dental laser for many fillings, and in a good number of those cases little or no anesthesia is needed. Whether it suits your particular cavity depends on its size and position, so ask when you book and we will tell you honestly.

  • A well-placed composite filling commonly lasts several years to well over a decade, and the range is wide because it depends on the size of the filling, where it sits, and habits like grinding. Fillings are repairs, not permanent replacements, and all of them eventually need attention.

  • A single straightforward filling usually takes under an hour from sitting down to leaving. If several teeth need work we will often group them into one visit so you are not making repeated trips, which matters more when you are driving in from out of town.

  • A composite filling is set hard before you leave, so you can eat as soon as you like. If you have had anesthetic, wait until the numbness wears off, because a numb lip or cheek is very easy to bite without noticing.
