Our Doctor
Dr. Ken Goodwin, DMD, has practised dentistry in Booneville, Mississippi for over 43 years, in the town he grew up in. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in 1982 and has been treating patients here ever since.
Patients travel to him from across North Mississippi, and a good number of them have been coming for decades.
Training and qualifications
Dr. Goodwin earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi in 1978, and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in 1982. He has practised in Booneville ever since, which makes this his forty-third year in the same community.
He is a general dentist, which means the whole range of everyday care rather than a single narrow field: examinations and cleanings, fillings, root canals, crowns and bridges, dentures and partials, implant restoration, and the emergencies that do not wait for a convenient appointment.
Why Booneville
Originally from Booneville, Dr. Goodwin came back here to practise rather than settling somewhere larger, and that decision is the reason the practice looks the way it does. Over four decades he has treated three generations of some Prentiss County families, and patients who first came to him as children now bring their own.
Continuity is the thing patients mention most. Seeing the same dentist each visit, in a practice where the front desk knows who you are, is increasingly unusual, and for nervous patients in particular it matters more than any piece of equipment.

The whole family, in one place
Children, parents and grandparents are seen in the same practice, which for families driving in from Baldwyn, Ripley or Fulton means one trip rather than several.
Work made in the building
Park Place Dental has an in-house dental laboratory supporting crowns, dentures, partials and repairs. Ask which stages can be completed here and whether your case requires outside work or separate visits.
Technology chosen for the patient, not the brochure
The Solea dental laser allows many fillings to be completed with little or no anaesthetic, and RAYFace 3D facial scanning lets cosmetic and implant treatment be planned against the whole face rather than a single tooth. Both were brought in because they change what a visit is like.
Time to explain
Appointments here are not run against a stopwatch. If you want to understand what is happening and why before agreeing to it, that is a reasonable thing to want and there is room for it.
Away from the practice
Outside the office, Dr. Goodwin spends his time with his family, duck hunting, and supporting the Ole Miss Rebels.
